How to Prepare for Your Nadi Pariksha Session
Share
Nadi Pariksha reads the pulse to understand your constitutional balance — which means the state your body is in when you arrive genuinely affects what the reading picks up. A few simple preparations make the difference between a clear reading and a muddied one.
Why Preparation Matters for This Specific Assessment
Unlike a standard medical check-up, Nadi Pariksha is sensitive to recent food, stress, exercise and even the time of day. Dr. Santosh Kadam is reading subtle qualities in the pulse — rhythm, depth, strength — that shift naturally throughout a normal day. Preparing well simply means arriving in as close to your natural baseline state as possible.
Before Your Appointment
- Avoid caffeine and heavy or spicy meals for at least 2–3 hours beforehand
- Skip strenuous exercise on the morning of your session — a normal walk is fine
- Try to arrive reasonably rested; a session right after a poor night's sleep can skew the reading
- Morning appointments (ideally before 10am) tend to give the clearest baseline reading, if your schedule allows
- Wear something that allows easy access to your wrist
What Happens During the Session
Dr. Santosh Kadam will check the pulse at three specific points on the wrist, each corresponding to a different dosha — Vata, Pitta and Kapha. This typically takes just a few minutes, though the conversation around it — discussing your symptoms, lifestyle and history — usually takes longer and matters just as much as the pulse reading itself.
After Your Reading
You'll typically walk away with a clearer picture of your current constitutional balance and specific recommendations — dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, or supporting herbs suited to what your pulse revealed. Many people pair this with an ongoing Wellness Coaching relationship to actually implement what the reading uncovers.
A Note from Actvebody
Nadi Pariksha works well as a starting point before beginning any new Ayurvedic product or routine — it helps ensure what you choose actually matches your constitution rather than a generic recommendation.
